Voor het moment ben ik in Namibië waar we proberen de Agapornis roseicollis te spotten in hun natuurlijke omgeving. Een uitgebreid verslag komt er binnenkort in het BVA blad.

Vandaag zijn we te gast op het lovebird symposium in Vrijburg – Zuid-Afrika. Ik laat jullie alvast even meegenieten van deze mooie omgeving.

The Kalahari Bird Club in Vryburg, Northwest Province, South Africa organise together with the SA Lovebird Association, on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th October 2009, a symposium on Lovebirds.

Speaker : Dirk Van den Abeele – Belgium.

This takes place in Holiday resort Boereplaas in Vryburg. Boereplaas is located on the Stella/Mafikeng road, 19kms from Vryburg. (http://www.boereplaas.co.za)

Friday 16th October:
17H00 – 19h00 Identifying birds for exhibition by Dirk van den Abeele. Informal socializing.
19h30 “Bring and Braai” (South African tradition) till late.

Saturday 17th October:
09h00: Registration and refreshments.

10h15 – 11h15:1st Session:
Introduction to genus Agapornis by Dirk Van den Abeele
Feeding and Breeding
canus, taranta and swindernianus (and mutations)
Information for beginners and experienced breeder

11h15 – 11h30: 15min.brake.

11h30 – 13h00: 2nd Session:
mutations in roseicollis, fischeri, nigrigenis, lilianae, personatus
Identifying mutations correctly.

13h00 – 14h00: Lunch brake (meal include in the registration fee)

14h00 – 16h00:3rd Session:
Basic principles and how mutations occur (happen).
Elementary touch basics of genetics (types of inheritance).
Selection of birds
Judging of some of the birds available

17h30: Big Kalahari Campfire and supper till late

Neophema studiedag Nederland.

Deze dag wordt gehouden op Zaterdag 24 Oktober 2009 te Roosendaal.

Op het programma:

09:00 uur tot 10:00 uur inschrijven van de vogels. De kosten hiervoor zijn 50 cent per vogel.
10:00 uur Opening van de dag door onze voorzitter P. Ooijen
Daarna start de keuring en lezing.
Voor de keuring hebben we de keurmeesters K. Zegelaars,G. Steinz, J. de Pender en P. Onderdelinden uitgenodigd.

Tijdens de keuring zal er een lezing verzorgd worden door de firma Refona. Deze firma is bekend van de natuurlijke vijand van de bloedluis, de roofmijt (Dutchy’s). Aan het eind van de lezing is er ruimte voor vragen en verder te discussiëren.

12:00 uur pauze met Brabantse koffietafel Hier kan iedereen aanschuiven voor een bedrag 10 euro. Dit kunt u voldoen s`morgens tijdens de inschrijving.

13:00 uur start vogels bespreking. Uit alle groepen vogels die in de ochtend gekeurd zijn worden de meest opvallende vogels besproken door de keurmeester die de vogel gekeurd heeft. Nadat de vogels besproken zijn is er natuurlijk nog gelegenheid om met elkaar van gedachte te wisselen,en de vogels te bewonderen.
